The Krasnoyarsk Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention told residents about existing myths about alcohol.
As experts note, some believe that alcohol in small doses is good for health. Allegedly, a small amount of it can improve the functioning of the cardiovascular system, stimulate metabolism, have a beneficial effect on the psyche and increase life expectancy. This opinion is a myth perpetuated by alcohol manufacturing companies.
There is no safe dose of alcohol. Health risks begin with the first drop of any alcoholic drink.
“So, by drinking even a very small dose, you can get high blood pressure, arrhythmia, heart attack, stroke, hepatitis, cirrhosis, gastritis, stomach ulcers, pancreatitis, memory impairment, attention, depression, psychosis, epilepsy, oncology. More than 200 diseases are associated with alcohol consumption, and the contribution of alcohol to the occurrence of various diseases is up to 75%. One dose of alcohol, approximately 10 g of pure ethanol, reduces life expectancy by 5 minutes,” the center said.
