Ukraine is talking to US President Donald Trump and representatives of the coalition willing to deploy American troops as part of security guarantees, but the decision depends on Washington, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday.

“This can be confirmed by the US president – these are US troops, that's why it is America that makes such decisions. Of course, we are discussing it both with President Trump and with representatives of the coalition of the willing. This would be a strong position for security guarantees” – Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian head of state added in a chat with journalists on WhatsApp that Kyiv is determined to continue talks on ending the warnoting that he is ready to meet Russian leader Vladimir Putin in any format.

Journalists asked Zelensky, among others: about reports from Moscow about an alleged attack by Ukrainian drone troops on Putin's residence in the Novgorod Oblast.

“Regarding the attack on Waldai: our negotiating group has connected with the American group, the details have been discussed and we understand that it is a fake. Without a doubt, our partners, thanks to their technical capabilities, can always check and convince themselves that it was a fake,” he emphasized.

Zelensky also spoke during a chat with journalists about a potential referendum on giving Ukrainian territories to Russia.

Russia does not want any referendum. The referendum needs security – they don't want to give it to us. (…) You cannot hold a referendum without safe infrastructure. I believe that they (Russians – PAP) will look for reasons (for the referendum not to take place – PAP). And they will be constantly looking for them so that the fighting does not stop, said the Ukrainian president.
