FIFA President Gianni Infantino spoke of the incredible interest in next year's World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. He said there have been 150 million ticket requests for next summer's tournament, a record number.
Although many football fans have complained about the high ticket prices, the interest in them is very high.
150 million ticket requests for the World Cup
At the World Sports Summit in Dubai, FIFA President Gianni Infantino spoke about the impressive number of ticket requests from fans who want to see live matches at the 2026 World Cup. He said that in 15 days, FIFA registered 150 million such requests, which is a record number.
“We have around six to seven million tickets on sale. In 15 days we received 150 million requests. That's 10 million a day. It shows how powerful the World Championship is.
In almost 100 years of World Cup history, FIFA has sold a total of 44 million tickets. And in two weeks we could have completed 300 years of World Cups. Imagine. It's absolutely incredible,” said Gianni Infantino, according to Reuters.

According to the FIFA president, fans from the United States, one of the host countries, made the most requests for tickets, followed by supporters from Germany and the United Kingdom.
However, many fans have criticized online the high cost of tickets, much higher than at matches in the 2022 edition. Following these complaints, FIFA introduced a $60 ticket category.
“The important thing is that the revenue generated from this tournament goes back into football, all over the world. Without FIFA there would be no football in 150 countries in the world. Football exists because of these revenues that we generate through the World Cup and which we reinvest globally,” concluded the FIFA president.
The random draw sale phase remains open until January 13, 2026, with applications being processed randomly and with no time advantage.
The tournament, which will be the first in history with the participation of 48 teams, will be organized by the United States of America, Canada and Mexico, from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
