Mihai Stoica, the president of the board of directors of the FCSB club, spoke about the moment when coaches Elias Charalambous and Mihai Pintilii wanted to leave the red-blue group.
Results in the first part of the season have been below expectations for FCSB, and Pintilii has at one point conveyed to boss Gigi Becali that he and Charalambous are willing to leave if it will help the team recover. Now, Mihai Stoica has revealed what he told the technician at the time.

“When Lixandru scored the opening goal in Clinceni with Slobozia, he didn't choose to celebrate with the gallery or his colleagues, he went straight to Elias and jumped into his arms, because it was a phase they had prepared.
I told the boys, to Pinti in the first place, who had called Gigi “Nea Gigi, if we have to, we'll go, we don't have any kind of problem”, never, that you are both at the beginning of your career, don't come with proposals like that.
I left Steaua voluntarily and unforced by anyone in 2007 and after two minutes I fell into depression. These are not clubs to leave, because after that you don't know how to return.
We were winning the championship with Urziceni and scoring 8 points in the Champions League and I longed for Steaua”, said Mihai Stoica, quoted by fanatik.ro.
Mihai Pintilii took over FCSB on November 1, 2022, after Nicolae Dică resigned following a defeat with Cluj University. Cypriot Elias Charalambous was brought to the team in the spring of 2023 for FCSB to tick off the Pro license. Since that moment, the Bucharest group has won two Romanian championship titles and two Supercups.
