Blizzard code red for areas in 11 counties. Alert now issued by ANM

Meteorologists have issued a new extreme weather warning for areas in 11 counties. The alert went into effect at 10 a.m. Sunday.
The red code will be valid between December 28, 10 a.m. and December 29, 10 a.m.
During this period, in the Southern and Curbura Carpathians, at altitudes above 1700 m, there will be snow accompanied by very strong winds, with gust speeds of over 120 km/h and which will cause the visibility to decrease to almost zero.

Code Yellow and Orange Sunday
A yellow bad weather code is valid until Monday morning at 10 o'clock. According to the ANM map, in Maramureș, Transylvania, Moldova, Dobrogea and in the mountains it will snow blizzard, and visibility will temporarily drop below 100 m.
The wind will have speeds of 50…70 km/h and a layer of snow of generally 3…8 cm will be deposited locally. A layer of snow of 10…20 cm will be deposited in the Eastern and Southern Carpathians. In Oltenia, the south of Banat and locally in Muntenia, the wind will intensify, with speeds of 50…70 km/h.
Also, an orange code is valid until after midnight, at 2 o'clock. Throughout Sunday and the first part of the night from Sunday to Monday, in most of Moldova and locally in Transylvania, the wind will blow hard with gusts of 70…90 km/h, it will snow blizzard, and visibility will be very reduced.
In the Southern Carpathians at altitudes up to 1700 m, as well as in the north and center of the Eastern Carpathians, at altitudes generally above 1700 m, there will be strong blizzards and very low visibility, and the wind will have speeds of 90…100 km/h.
Code yellow for strong, prolonged wind
Meteorologists also extended the yellow code for strong winds until Monday evening, but the number of affected counties was limited.
According to ANM, until Monday, 11 p.m., in Moldova, Dobrogea, the south and west of Oltenia and the southeast of Transylvania, there will be intensification of the wind with speeds of 50…70 km/h.
Wind intensifications will also be in the Southern and Curbura Carpathians, with speeds of 60…85 km/h, and at over 1700 m, gusts will reach 90…120 km/h, blizzarding the deposited snow, and visibility will remain low.

ANM mentions that wind intensifications with speeds generally of 40…45 km/h will be in limited areas and in the rest of the territory.
