A Russian drone attack on Ukrainian ports on the Danube took place on the night of December 25-26, prompting the grounding of two F-16 fighter aircraft from the 86th Fetești Air Base.

“On the night of December 25 to 26, at 1:05 a.m., two F-16 fighter aircraft from the 86th Air Base in Fetești were lifted into the air to monitor the air situation in the border area with Ukraine, in the north of Tulcea county.
The aerial surveillance system of the Ministry of National Defense has identified groups of drones launched by the Russian Federation towards Ukrainian ports on the Danube”reports MApN.
According to the ministry, at 01:23, the population in the north of Tulcea County was warned by RO-Alert. No unauthorized intrusions into the national airspace were recorded during the mission.
The aircraft returned to base and landed safely at 3.15am.
Russian forces attacked a market in Kherson and an apartment block in Chernihiv on Christmas Day, killing two civilians and injuring nine others, Ukrainian authorities said.
On the evening of December 25, Russia launched a massive air strike on Ukraine, using an Iskander-M ballistic missile and 99 attack drones. Ukrainian air defense shot down or neutralized 73 drones, according to the Air Force of Ukraine.
In the Chernihiv region, a drone struck an apartment building, killing an 80-year-old woman and injuring nine others, three of whom were in critical condition.
