Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday that the US-Israeli attack on Iran is a clear violation of international law. He further announced that Türkiye will intensify diplomatic efforts to achieve a ceasefire and ensure peace in the region.

Turks share the pain of Iranians, Erdogan said in a speech to his political formation, the Justice and Development Party (AKP).
– We are on the side of peace. We want the bloodshed to end, the tears to stop and for our region to finally achieve the lasting peace it has been demanding for years, said the Turkish leader. The president expressed his condolences to the Iranians.
On Sunday, Erdogan expressed sadness over the death of Iran's spiritual and political leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in US-Israeli attacks on Tehran.
On Saturday morning, Israel and the US launched airstrikes against targets in Iran. Tehran responded by attacking several countries in the region, including American bases located there. As AFP pointed out, no attack has been launched against Turkey so far.
At least 555 people died in US-Israeli strikes on Iran, the Red Crescent said on Monday. (PAP)
