Liverpool receives at Anfield the visit of the Wolverhampton Saturday, December 27, from 5:00 p.m. The two clubs, the only ones in England for which he performed Diogo Jotahave prepared a special moment that also includes the two sons of the Portuguese footballer who died this summer.

According to The Times, Dinis and Duarte, Jota's two sons, will be the mascots for the match between Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers. A touching gesture considering their father played for both teams.

The Portuguese striker initially played for Wolves for three years before making the move to Liverpool. He played there for five years, until July 2025, when the tragic road accident happened, as a result of which Jota and his brother died.

Diogo Jota's two boys to be mascots at Anfield match between Liverpool and Wolverhampton

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk and Wolves captain Toti Gomes are expected to each take the field with one of the two boys. It is not yet known who will be accompanied by Dinis and who by Duarte.

Jota also left behind a one-year-old daughter, but she will not be present on the pitch. Supporters will also organize actions to honor Jota during the first match between Wolves and Liverpool since his death.

With the match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Liverpool also ends a tumultuous period. At the end of September and the beginning of October, Arne Slot's side lost a large number of games, putting the title in England and possibly qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League in doubt.

Meanwhile, Liverpool seem to have recovered and the last three matches have been won by the “cormorants”. Liverpool is thus in 5th place in the Premier League, 10 points behind the leader Arsenal.

For Wolves, the situation is even less rosy. The team barely managed to avoid relegation last season, but this season they are also facing problems.

Wolverhampton Wanderers sit bottom of the Premier League with a shocking two points from 17 games. The chances of the team being relegated to the Championship now seem very high.
