Knife attack in Paris metro: three women injured. The suspect was detained

Three women were attacked with a knife in the Paris metro on line 3 on Friday afternoon, December 26, 2025. Authorities apprehended the assailant, who initially fled through other metro lines.

According to the Paris prosecutor's office, the gunman wounded three women in different stations of the metro line connecting Bagnolet (Seine-Saint-Denis) to Levallois-Perret (Hauts-de-Seine). The attacks happened successively at République, Arts et Métiers and Opéra stations, according to French publication Le Parisien.

The victims were quickly treated by the Paris fire department. Fortunately, the injuries were minor. Two of the women were hit in the back and thigh. “The young woman was injured in the thigh”reported a woman present at République station. “There was a lot of blood though, it was a pretty big cutA police source stated that this victim was pregnant.

The aggressor identified and detained

The man later fled via subway line 8, but was quickly identified thanks to the images on the surveillance cameras. The Regional Transport Safety Service (SRT) was notified and opened an investigation on charges of attempted aggravated murder and voluntary violence with a weapon.

The suspect, born in 2000 and known to the police for various crimes, including against property, was located via mobile phone and detained at his home in Sarcelles (Val-d'Oise).

A police source said that the track of a terrorist attack has been ruled out, the incident being considered rather the result of the actions of an unbalanced or psychologically troubled individual.
