The robotics festival in Krasnoyarsk gathered a record number of participants

More than 250 schoolchildren from 104 teams took part in the RoboLab robotics festival in Krasnoyarsk. This is twice as much as before. The mayor's office said that this year young engineers from Divnogorsk, Sosnovoborsk, Novoselovsky and Emelyanovsky districts joined Krasnoyarsk residents for the first time.

Roboticists aged 7 to 17 years competed in four categories:

  • “Sumo”: robots pushed the opponent out of the ring;

  • “The Big Journey”: you had to go through a maze, move along a line and knock down pins;

  • “Relay Race”: robots transported cans;

  • “Walker Races”: cars covered the distance at speed.

After the robotics battles, the participants competed in high-speed solving of a Rubik's cube. More than 60 people showed their skills. The best of them was Arseny Asmus from school No. 10 of the Central District. He completed the puzzle in 21 seconds.

The festive atmosphere of the festival was complemented by creative workshops. The guests created a New Year's talisman with their own hands – a wooden horse, and young scientists in a portable laboratory prepared the “elixir” of the holiday. They managed to create a magical extract of New Year's mood.

“Robotics festivals develop interest in science, form an engineering approach and teach teamwork. They popularize high technologies, which ultimately helps children decide on a profession,” said Marina Aksenova, head of the main education department.

Let us remind you that earlier in Novosibirsk, as part of the Impulse T1 conference, a hackathon for young IT specialists ended. In total, more than 300 students from all over the country took part in the competition. The event continued a series of hackathons that had already taken place in Nizhny Novgorod and Yekaterinburg. With the participation of mentors and experts from specialized IT companies, the winning teams from Novosibirsk shared a prize of 800 thousand rubles. The total prize fund for the entire series this year was 3.8 million rubles.
