A man died in Turin after choking on panettone at a family party

A 47-year-old man died on Thursday after choking on panettone during a house party near Turin, reports the Italian daily Corriere della Serra.
The incident took place in a house on Via Foglizzo, in the Borgo Nuovo district, at the home of the victim's parents. According to Italian media, the man suddenly drowned while eating the dessert.
The family members tried to give him first aid and immediately called the emergency number 112.
In a few minutes, the paramedics arrived at the scene, but nothing could be done for the 47-year-old man, the doctor could only declare death.
The Carabinieri from Settimo Torinese were also called to the home, as well as the coroner, to carry out routine checks.
Death was determined to be caused by accidental asphyxiation.
