For the first time, the Princess of Wales and her daughter played the piano together for a carol concert, writes the BBC. Their duet was recorded at Windsor Palace and the surprise moment has now been revealed.

In a palace hall decorated for Christmas, Princess Kate and ten-year-old Princess Charlotte sit together at the piano.

They play Holm Sound by Erland Cooper, a Scottish songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist originally from the Orkney Islands.

Pictures of the two were posted on the official pages of the Prince and Princess of Wales. As such, Kensington Palace previously announced that they were to unveil “a special duet”.

It is the first time that the two play the piano together. In previous years, Princess Catherine has provided such moments.

Now, writes the BBC, the princess wanted to highlight the importance of human connections.

“The time, care and compassion you give, often silently and quietly, without expectation or recognition, make a tremendous difference to the lives of others,” wrote Princess Kate in the letter given to guests at the royal family carol concert.
