After the injury and death of teenage skiers, the owner of the Ergaki recreation center was accused of providing unsafe services

The Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Khakassia has completed a criminal investigation against the owner of the Ergaki recreation center – he is accused of providing unsafe services that negligently resulted in the infliction of serious harm to health and the death of a person.

The investigation established that the individual entrepreneur did not ensure compliance with safety requirements on the ski slopes of the recreation center, which led to injury and death of minor visitors.

Thus, on March 21, 2024, a 12-year-old boy from Tuva, who used the rental of ski equipment and the services of an instructor, was seriously injured while training on the slope.

On February 1, 2025, a 13-year-old skier from Khakassia was injured at the base – during the descent he received an injury classified as moderate harm to health.

And on February 2, 2025, a schoolgirl from Tuva fell to her death there – a 15-year-old girl, going down a highway where there were no fences in the form of nets and protective mattresses in dangerous areas, collided with a tree and died on the spot from her injuries.

“The investigation has collected a sufficient evidence base, the criminal case has been sent to the prosecutor’s office for approval of the indictment and subsequent transfer to the court for consideration on the merits. The accused is subject to a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions. His property was seized in the amount of 2.5 million rubles,” the Investigative Committee said.

Let us note that for committing a crime under paragraph “c” of Part 2 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, a businessman can be punished a fine of up to 500 thousand rubles, or forced labor for a term of up to 5 years, or imprisonment for a term of up to 6 years.
