“Our president, Mr. Sadettin Saran, was detained on Wednesday evening by the Provincial Gendarmerie Command, from Fenerbahçe's presidential office, as part of an ongoing investigation. The investigation is still ongoing and the process is being conducted according to the rule of law, under the authority and responsibility of the competent bodies.
We have full confidence that our president will overcome this process with reason and courage, as he has done so far. The work done in the interest of our club will continue without interruption. Our president, Mr. Sadettin Saran, will leave these days behind and continue to work for our club.
The Chairman of our Board of Directors, Şekip Mosturoglu, our board members, our club's lawyers and our chairman's lawyers, Mr. Sadettin Saran, are accompanying our chairman throughout this process. We inform the public accordingly,” the Turkish club's statement reads.
The head of the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office said: “As part of the ongoing investigation against the suspect Steven Sadettin Saran, based on the additional evidence obtained, he was detained by the teams of the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command on charges of supplying narcotics, facilitating drug consumption and using narcotics.”
The president of the club was in Milan when he was summoned for questioning and immediately returned to Istanbul. Fenerbahce fans are with Saran, they greeted him with applause at the last meeting with him and even prepared a banner with him.
