The US Department of Justice discovered more than a million documents that could be related to Jeffrey Epstein, convicted of sex crimes. This will delay their full publication by several weeks, pending the drafting of details to protect the victims, the Department of Justice announced on Wednesday, according to Reuters, quoted by News.ro.

In a message published Wednesday on social media, the Justice Department said the FBI and the federal prosecutor's office in Manhattan had discovered more than a million additional documents that could be related to Epstein, without giving details about when or how the documents were found.

“We have attorneys working around the clock to review and make the legally necessary redactions to protect victims, and we will release the documents as soon as possible,” the department said. “Due to the large volume of materials, this process may take several more weeks,” the institution added.

The released documents show the connection between Trump and Epstein

President Trump's administration has begun releasing files related to criminal investigations into the Epstein case to comply with a law passed by Congress last month.

Republicans and Democrats in Congress passed the law despite Donald Trump's objections, requiring all documents to be made public by December 19, but allowing partial redaction to protect victims.

The US Department of Justice released a series of documents from the Jeffrey Epstein case on Tuesday, December 23, including an email from a prosecutor indicating that President Trump traveled on Epstein's private jet “more times than previously reported.”

The latest batch of documents includes about 30,000 pages, with many passages redacted, and dozens of video clips.

In one of those emails, dated Jan. 7, 2020, an unidentified New York prosecutor wrote that flight records showed Trump flew on Epstein's private jet eight times in the 1990s, more times than investigators knew at the time.

Among them were “at least four flights” carrying Ghislaine Maxwell. Maxwell is serving a 20-year prison sentence for helping Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse underage girls.
