The Minister of Education, Daniel David, was asked on TVR Info if he is thinking of leaving office in 2026, he said that “it is something he is thinking about these days”.

“I tell you honestly, I came with a horizon of a few months. until May, when the presidential institution had to be established and the country stabilized. From May, I came with the idea that I would stay until school started, to help the country pass through international evaluations, that it looked very bad for a minister of the largest budget system to leave, and I didn't know how school would start after the fiscal-budgetary measures. After that, the idea was that I would stay until the European Commission makes the global assessment and they will tell us that things are ok, European funds are not blocked and the country is stable”, answered Minister Daniel David, after being asked on Sunday evening, on TVR Info. if he intends to leave office in 2026, writes News.ro.

Daniel David also states that he is not aiming for a political career. “I don't have and I don't aim for a political career. I think I've made my contribution and I kept postponing my departure many times,” he claimed.

The Minister of Education also stated that there are discussions during this period as well and showed that “he has this feeling that there should be a minister who will work on the budget for next year”.

“If I'm working on the budget for next year, I should assume the continuation of the mandate. It's not fair to hire, make a budget for a year and then take your things and leave. So I can't answer that question for now, but you're right that it's something I'm thinking about these days,” he explained.
