The coach of the FC Rapid football team, Constantin Gâlcă, said on Sunday evening, after the 1-2 defeat with FCSB, that his team had a bad end to the year and that it really needs new players.

“We finished the year very badly, that's the truth. We took one point in the last three stages, we didn't look good. We made big mistakes… From my point of view, we have to change the team, new players have to come, because we want to be up there, to fight for the European Cup goal. We need players, and in the middle, and in attack, and in the lanes, we need to come from the reserve bench with a plus,” said the technician at the DigiSport station, according to Agerpres.

“I think that this team can't sustain the pace until the end of the championship. Maybe I'm to blame… maybe another coach maybe. I don't, I say we still need players. Shall we fight for the championship? No, I don't think so. We've done everything we've done so far with a very good organization, but we need players. I'm talking about valor, numerically we are many. We'll see, it's a shame for our supporters, because they supported us everywhere and I think they deserved something else”, added Gâlcă.

The coach claims his players lacked courage and should have played from the start as they did in the second half.

“We started the match the same as in the tour. In the second half we started to play, but we made very big mistakes, both with the first goal and the penalty. You can't come back every time you play against FCSB. If we played from the beginning like the end, yes. But we didn't, we didn't have courage, we didn't show personality on the field. And FCSB is a good team, which knows how to manage these moments. I think we had to play from the first minute as we did in the second half. FCSB is a team that can enter the play-offs and fight for the title”, said the Rapid's technician.

Constantin Gâlcă believes that Rapid deserved another penalty for Adrian Șut's foul on Jakub Hromada in the 90th+3rd minute.

“For me, Hromada was in the foreground and was pushed from behind. I don't know the intensity, but I clearly pushed him. So for me it's a penalty. But the decision is taken by the referee”, emphasized Gâlcă.

FCSB defeated Rapid București with a score of 2-1 (1-0), on Sunday evening, at the National Arena, in a derby that counted for the 21st stage of the Football Super League.

The champion opened the scoring through Darius Olaru (24), with a shot to the long corner, after a combination with Daniel Bîrligea. Florin Tănase (75 – penalty) scored the hosts' second goal, after a handball by Denis Ciobotariu.

The Rapid team's goal was scored by Alexandru Dobre (86 – penalty), after Danijel Graovac fouled Claudiu Petrila in the box. It was the first penalty received by Rapid in this championship.

FCSB went on an eight game unbeaten streak, five wins and three draws.

Rapid has only one win in five stages, one draw and three defeats.
