At just 4 years old, Stefan Vladimir Dinu leads a difficult fight for the right to enjoy childhood. Although he is a cheerful and active child, behind his luminous smile is hidden a rare disease that threatens his future.
Vladimir was born with spina bifida and lipomyelomeningocela serious malformation of the spine. The first surgery took place at only 8 months, in Germany, but the doctors could not completely remove the lipoma that press the spinal nerves, so as not to cause irreversible injuries. Since then, the family lives between hospitals, therapies and hopes, making it possible for the boy to lead a normal life.
Unfortunately, with the growth of the age of 4, Vladimir's condition has worsened. Column and basin were deformed, and recent investigations showed a Severe lombo-sacro-pelvic malformationwhich endangers his mobility and nervous functions. The only chance to stop the evolution of the disease is a complex operation of reconstruction of the sacred bone and detachment of the medullary conewhat must be done urgently at the Monza Hospital in Bucharest.
