Eston's airspace was violated on Friday by three Russian military aircraft. The incident took place on Friday morning, when three Russian MIG-31 fighter jets entered the Eston airspace near the island of Vaindloo, writes the national television. The aircraft had no flight plans, and their transponents were stopped. The airplanes spilled the air space of the Baltic Country for almost 12 minutes.
The reaction of the Minister of Defense
The Minister of Defense Ionuț Moșteanu also condemned the incident, which he called “Another act of challenge and intimidation of the Russian Federation, part of a strategy of destabilizing the Eastern NATO”.
“Romania is in full solidarity with Estonia. Together with our allies, we will continue to strengthen the defense of the Eastern flank and clear that every centimeter of the NATO air space is protected. Russia must understand that such challenges will not remain unanswered,” Mosteanu wrote on X.
Incidents in Romania, and Poland
This month, the drones of Russia also violated the air and Poland's air spaces.
On September 13, in the area of Chilia Veche in the Delta, a Russian drone sailed for 50 minutes in the airspace of Romania, then leaving the country, under the monitoring of NATO military aircraft.
In Poland, the authorities claimed that the national airspace was violated by at least 19 Russian drones on the night of September 9 to 10. Both the air forces of the country and NATO were mobilized for their breaking.
One of the drones detected by the Polish army entered 250 kilometers inside the country before crashing on a field near Mniszków, in the łódzkie voivodeship. Another drone was found in Czosnówka, about 50 km from the border with Belarus, the local prosecutors confirming that they found “an object wearing Cyrillic inscriptions”.
