In total, over PLN 1 billion will be received by Poczta Polska in December 2025 and January 2026, the Ministry of State Assets said. The largest part of this amount is financing the net cost of the universal service obligation for 2024, amounting to over PLN 954 million.

According to Monday's statement from the Ministry of Assets, in December this year A total of PLN 86.6 million was paid to Poczta Polska to cover expenses related to removing damage to postal infrastructure resulting from the flood in September 2024 and to reimburse investment costs incurred in 2020–2024 for the construction and modernization of the e-Delivery system.

At the end of December, Poczta Polska is also to receive the first tranche of financing the net cost of the obligation to provide universal services for 2024 in the amount of PLN 338.4 million. In total, the Post Office will receive over PLN 954 million by the end of January 2026.

Wojciech Balczun, the Minister of State Assets quoted in the announcement, pointed out that the postal operator is undergoing a thorough transformation and requires “particular attention”. “In December and January, the company will receive a total of over PLN 1 billion. This is an expression of the fulfillment of the state's obligations towards the designated operator that provides universal services throughout the country. The funds will not only improve the company's financial situation, but also increase the quality and availability of postal services for millions of Poles,” Balczun said.

Funds for removing damage related to the 2024 flood were paid to Poczta Polska on December 12 in the amount of PLN 1.4 million. These are four post offices in Lower Silesia. In total, the state paid the company over PLN 2 million for this purpose in 2024-2025. In the case of reimbursement of investment costs in the e-Delivery system, on December 17, 2025, the postal operator received over PLN 85 million.

MAP reminded that Poczta Polska, as the designated operator, has the right to receive a targeted subsidy to finance the net cost of the obligation to provide universal services if it incurs a loss on these services in a given year. (PAP)
