The President of Expert Forum, about the referendum proposed by Nicușor Dan for magistrates: “Disastrous idea”

Sorin Ioniță, the president of the Expert Forum, said on Sunday, December 21, that the result of the referendum dedicated to magistrates, proposed by the president Nicușor Dan, will be “90% pro‑CSM”, arguing that the institution “he defended their wages and pensions.”

During press statements held in Cotroceni, Nicușor Dan announced that he will create a referendum dedicated to magistrates, in which they will have to answer the question: “Does the Superior Council of Magistracy act in the public interest or does it act in the interest of a group within the judicial system?”.
“And, in view of this situation, which I consider to be serious, I will initiate in January, immediately after the holidays, a referendum within the Corps of Magistrates with a single question: “Does the Superior Council of Magistrates act in the public interest or does it act in the interest of a group within the judicial system?”
And, if the magistrates, as a whole, will say that yes, the Superior Council of Magistracy is acting in the public interest, we will continue the legislative discussions and everything I said earlier”, the president conveyed.
Sorin Ioniță called this referendum an idea “catastrophic”.
“Does anyone think the result would be anything other than 90% pro-CSM? Because he defended their wages and pensions. What employees dismantle a union so effectively? Dwe wouldn't get there anyway, the idea falls to the CCR, that's in case someone manages to find a law that could be done”, the public policy expert commented on Facebook.
