The Dow Jones Industrial was up 0.38% at the close. and amounted to 48,134.89 points.

The S&P 500 increased by 0.88% at the end of the day. and amounted to 6,834.50 points.

The Nasdaq Composite rose 1.31%. up to 23,307.62 points

The Russell 2000 mid-cap index is up 0.83%. up to 2,528.65 points

American stock markets are enjoying increased investor interest at the end of the year. In the week ended December 17, USD 78 billion flowed into this asset class, which is the second result in the history of EPFR Global data (the record from last year is USD 82.2 billion).

For the first time in three weeks, the technology sector recorded a positive balance of inflows, which signals an improvement in sentiment towards the industry, which is facing investors' concerns about the growing bubble related to artificial intelligence.

Oracle shares rose more than 7%. after TikTok agreed to sell its U.S. operations to a new joint venture involving software giant and private equity investor Silver Lake.

Nvidia shares rose over 3%. after Reuters, citing sources familiar with the matter, reported that the Trump administration was considering the possibility of the company selling advanced AI systems to China. Earlier this month, President Donald Trump said he would allow Nvidia to ship AI H200 chips to “approved customers” in the country.

Micron Technology shares continued their gains from the previous session, rising more than 7%. On Thursday, the company's shares increased by 10%. after the company delivered solid revenue guidance for the current quarter, reassuring investors after a recent session marked by anxiety over artificial intelligence trading.

Nike was among the stocks that lost value on Friday. Its shares fell about 11%. after the sportswear giant reported a decline in revenue in the Greater China market in the second quarter of the fiscal year. The company is also feeling the effects of tariff increases, which have negatively impacted its gross margin.

The sentiment index among American consumers, prepared by the University of Michigan, was 52.9 points in December. vs. 51.0 points in the previous month – given in the final calculation. The preliminary reading indicated 53.3 points.

The annual inflation expected by respondents in December was 4.2%. compared to 4.5 percent previously, and in the long term it amounted to 3.2 percent. compared to 3.4 percent previously.

Sales of homes on the secondary market in the US in November amounted to 4.13 million on an annual basis vs. the expected 4.15 million – reported the National Association of Realtors. A month earlier, the indicator amounted to 4.11 million, after correction. In month-to-month terms, the indicator increased by 0.5%. compared to 1.5 percent a month earlier, after the revision. 1.2 percent was expected.

On the oil market, WTI contracts for January are up by 0.89%. to USD 56.65 per barrel, and February Brent futures increase by 1.17%. up to USD 60.52/b. (PAP)
