PiS convention. Zbigniew Ziobro: the rule of law is a baseball bat

The PiS program convention is underway. Former Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro spoke at one of Saturday's discussion panels.
“Today, in Polish conditions, the word rule of law sounds like a bitter irony, because… We live in a country, let me put it this way, where the authorities ostentatiously violate the constitution and laws and take over the public media by force.” – Zbigniew Ziobro began his Saturday speech.
The politician enumerated that “the presidents of the courts are now being removed, the national prosecutor is not allowed into his office, the judges of the Constitutional Tribunal are being exterminated without paying them for their work.”

“What we are really dealing with is a barbary which, under the guise of fighting for the rule of law and democracy, is actually introducing a fighting democracy.. Because Donald Tusk said so,” said Zbigniew Ziobro.
Zbigniew Ziobro about Waldemar Żurek: “an honest guy”
He called his successor as Minister of Justice an “honest peasant”. “He no longer beat around the bush, as Bodnar did, and tried to camouflage his actions. He says directly: 'I came here to break the law' and he does it,” commented the PiS politician.
He called the dismissal of dozens of presidents and vice-presidents of courts and the issuance of regulations intended to change laws a violation of the law.

“He wants to have trusted judges, especially in criminal departmentswhich, on the one hand, are to be used to settle matters, as in the case of Minister Nowak, a close friend of Donald Tusk, the head of his political cabinet, but on the other hand, they are to be used to issue political judgments, written on politicians' desks and only and only those that would be signed with the stamp of this trusted, trusted judge, designated by the finger to hear the case,” said Zbigniew Ziobro.
Zbigniew Ziobro attacks the European Union
The former minister also attacked the European Union. “The rule of law is a baseball bat used to hit countries that do not like the European Union in some way. We couldn't even implement a significant part of our reforms,” he suggested.
He appealed to his party colleagues to draw conclusions from this. “Let's be determined, let's be tough, unyielding, let's fight for our sovereignty, justice and let's show that we can do it consistently” – he said.
Zbigniew Ziobro did not have any program suggestions during his speech. He did not indicate any ideas for healing the judiciary. He only announced that he would present specific proposals at the next meeting.
