The wnp.pl portal emphasizes that the Modlin airport is preparing for a breakthrough period. “ I estimate that the Modlin airport will become the third largest airport in Poland within 3 years [po Chopinie i Krakowie — red.] with approximately 10 million passengers per year. This is the resurrection of Modlin” – predicts Michał Kaczmarzyk, head of Ryanair's Polish structures, in an interview with the portal.
During the winter season, eight planes are currently stationed at the airport: six from Ryanair and two from Wizz Air. Carriers announce that this number will increase by 50% in the summer season.
Infrastructure investments: coating terminal and new parking spaces
The airport authorities are preparing for a dynamic increase in traffic. In 2026, it is planned to launch a temporary coating terminal, which is to be built before March 29, 2026, and will double the number of gates in Modlin.
The president of the port, Jacek Kowalski, announced that the tender procedure for the construction of this facility along with the network infrastructure has already been completed.
The next step will be the expansion of parking areas. On January 8, 2026, the airport management intends to open tenders for straightening the parking areas, which will increase the number of seats from 10 to 13.
As President Kowalski explained, additional seats are necessary to handle the growing number of aircraft, especially those belonging to Ryanair and Wizz Air. The new positions are to be ready in the summer.
