SCM USV Timișoara won the Romanian Cup, capturing the sixth trophy in this competition

SCM USV Timișoara achieved its first victory this season against CSM Știința Baia Mare, who they beat in the final of the Romanian Cup with 18-11 (15-3).
The final of the Romanian Cup took place on Saturday, at noon, at the Arc de Triumf stadium in Bucharest. The protagonists were SCM USV Timișoara and CSM Știința Baia Mare, the two teams that also competed for the national title, which the Maramureş won. Before the duel in the Romanian Cup, the Timișoara had suffered four defeats this season out of as many matches played against those from Baia Mare.
With a strong desire for revenge, the team coached by Mugur Preda and Valentin Popârlan dominated all 80 minutes of the game, strongly encouraged by a sound gallery. At halftime, SCM USV Timișoara led 15-3, and at the end prevailed 18-11. Gabriel Rupanu was the best of the formation that won the Romanian Cup, bringing 13 of the 18 points of the Banatians, with an essay, a conversion and two penalty kicks.

Only in 2015, SCM USV Timișoara defeated another team in the final, then beating Steaua Bucharest.
