The Kennedy Center Board of Trustees has determined that the iconic Washington performance hall will change its name to the “Trump-Kennedy Center,” the White House announced Thursday.

The White House press secretary claims that this decision was made “due to the incredible work that President Trump has done over the past year to save the building.”

“Not only from the perspective of its reconstruction, but also from a financial and reputational perspective (…). The building will undoubtedly reach new levels of success and grandeur,” added Karoline Leavitt.

Donald Trump, a former real estate developer, has turned his name into a brand, inscribed in bright letters on the properties he owns, writes AFP, quoted by Agerpres.

Recently, the name of the current US president was engraved on the facade of an “Institute for Peace” in Washington, based on a decision made by the State Department.

Trump has joked several times in public about the possibility of a new name for the Kennedy Center, combining his name with that of the assassinated president JFK.

The president took control of the cultural institution, placing his allies in key positions. He also recently hosted a gala at the center, which he plans to use as a symbol of his traditionalist and “anti-woke” approach to culture.

The new management of the Kennedy Center has eliminated “drag shows” and events celebrating the LGBT community. Instead, he invited conferences held by right-wing religious groups and Christian artists.
