The United States held the first meeting of G20 sherpas in Washington on December 15-16, the US Department of State announced on Thursday. Poland also participated in the meeting as the only country invited by the American presidency – it was emphasized.

The statement announced that the meeting organized by the US was attended by sherpas (envoys taking part in the preparations) of the European Union, the African Union, as well as: Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Canada, South Korea, Mexico, Germany, Russia, Turkey, Great Britain and Italy.
“Poland also took part (in the talks – PAP) as the only full participant-guest of this year's US presidency,” it was reported.
As noted, the goal of the US, which took over the presidency of the G20 on December 1, is to “restore the original economic agenda in the G20 and achieve real economic results.”
US President Donald Trump will host the G20 leaders' summit on December 14-15, 2026, at the Trump National Doral Miami facility in Florida, the Department of State announced.
The ministry said that during the first event as part of the G20 presidency, the US drew attention to its thematic priorities. These include: promoting economic prosperity by reducing regulatory burdens, providing reliable and affordable energy sources, and introducing innovative technologies.
The head of the International Policy Office in the Chancellery of the President, Marcin Przydacz, emphasized that Poland was “very well received” by the G20 countries at the preparatory meetings for next year's summit, in which he participated. Further sherpa meetings are scheduled for spring and summer and December next year.
