Russia recruited hundreds of Indian citizens to fight in Ukraine

According to reports, 26 people were killed, and seven more are missing. Delhi authorities are negotiating with Moscow on the repatriation of about 50 Indians and have already achieved the return of more than 100 people to their homeland.

Moscow claims that only foreign volunteers are recruited into the army.

India, as well as Nepal and Sri Lanka, urged their citizens not to fall for false promises after it became known that hundreds of residents of these countries were fighting on the side of Russia in Ukraine.

Relatives of the missing reported that Russian agents lured young men with promises of legal work with high salaries and accommodation. Instead, they were forced to sign contracts in Russian, the meaning of which they did not understand, and were sent to the front.
