In Voronezh, a US citizen's sentence was revised and two more years in prison were added. What was the reason?

As propagandists noted, the new verdict concerns two episodes that occurred in the spring of 2025.

On May 5, Gilman allegedly attacked a FSIN employee, not wanting to go to the correctional colony from the pre-trial detention center because of better conditions of detention. Despite the attack, the next day he was transferred to colony No. 8 in Rossosh (Voronezh region). According to TASS, irritated by this and wanting to return to the Voronezh pre-trial detention center, Gilman again attacked a FSIN employee.

Regarding previous terms: Gilman was detained on January 19, 2022 at the station in Voronezh for a drunken robbery on the Sukhum – Moscow train. According to propagandists, at the police station he also kicked an Interior Ministry officer. The court sentenced him to four and a half years in a general regime colony, and in May 2023 the term was reduced by a year.

The next criminal case was opened after Gilman, while serving his sentence, refused to comply with the daily routine and used physical force against a colony employee. Also in the colony, he allegedly hit the investigator several times, and then again used physical force on the inspector in the pre-trial detention center, where he was transferred during the investigation, the Russian agency noted.

In October 2024, Gilman received a new sentence: he was sentenced to seven years and one month in a maximum security colony and a fine of 300 thousand rubles, and in April 2025 the term was increased by another year. Propagandists explain that the prosecutor's office recognized the preliminary punishment as “too lenient and unfair.”

The material also states that, according to Gilman's own version, one of the men he attacked allegedly “repeatedly taunted his paralyzed father,” and on another occasion he used physical force on an investigator because he “was making sounds like his paralyzed father while sitting in a chair.”

The court debate and subsequent stages of the trial took place on December 3 in the Voronezh pre-trial detention center where Gilman is currently being held due to the impossibility of taking him to the courthouse, TASS reported. The new verdict refers to a maximum security colony.

The consideration of new episodes in the case is scheduled for December 25.
