Will Morawiecki create a new party? Here's what Poles think [SONDAŻ]

Some PiS activists openly demand a clearer shift of the party towards the hard right. In their opinion, only such a move will help regain voters who are flocking to the Confederation and circles around the Crown. In this context, the former prime minister is sometimes perceived as a politician too centrist and too technocratic to effectively mobilize the most ideological electorate.

Morawiecki himself consistently emphasizes that he does not plan to break up with PiS. At the same time, his name regularly appears in speculations regarding a possible new political project. It was these speculations that became the impetus for conducting a survey to check whether such an initiative would have any social support at all.
Dispute over the direction and leadership in PiS
The conflict in PiS is strategic. On the one hand, there are supporters of a tougher narrative and a clear ideological turn, on the other – politicians who are convinced that without moderate voters, the party has no chance of winning the next parliamentary elections. Morawiecki, associated with economic policy and attempts at dialogue with the West, found himself at the very center of this axis of the dispute.

The survey reveals the potential of Mateusz Morawiecki's new formation
Only after exceeding the first thousand characters do specific data appear. In a survey conducted by SW Research for Onet, respondents were asked whether they would consider voting for the party founded by Mateusz Morawiecki in the 2027 parliamentary elections.
Over 17 percent respondents declared that such an option would be considered for them. In Polish political realities, this is a result that means real electoral potential and the possibility of playing an important role – especially in the scenario of difficult coalition negotiations after the elections.
At the same time, 60 percent respondents exclude support for such a group. This clearly shows that a possible new party of the former prime minister would have to face serious barriers and strong distrust of a large part of the electorate.
An important group are respondents who were unable to clearly answer the survey question. That's almost 23 percent. subjects — voters who are potentially open but expect specifics. Their decisions could depend on the program, the team of collaborators and the general political situation in the country.
