Journalists asked to evaluate the negotiations in Berlin, which took place on December 14 and 15 with the participation of representatives of the United States, Europe and Ukraine.
“Agreements. Important: we are counting on five documents. Some of them are about security guarantees. Legally binding, that is, voted on, approved by the US Congress. Where there is a fifth amendment “as in NATO”. That is, Article 5 mirror – that is, a mirror of the fifth amendment for everyone in the Alliance. And this will be voted on by Congress, there are agreements on this. And this is very important,” Zelensky said.
The President of Ukraine did not specify which specific documents were being discussed, but noted that the negotiations discussed, in particular, the restoration of Ukraine, the return of Ukrainians, and so on.
“We have approached the most difficult points of our 20-point framework agreement. We are moving. We are moving forward. I believe that here we have steps, they are not easy, but they are forward, not backward. And this is also important,” Zelensky emphasized.
Context
Previously, the media (in particular, Bloomberg, citing Finnish President Alexander Stubb) wrote that three documents were being discussed at peace negotiations in Ukraine: a 20-point framework; on security guarantees for Ukraine; about the restoration of Ukraine.
