Police in the Shushensky district detained a suspect in the arson of cedar trees listed in the Red Book of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the region.

“It has been previously established that a resident withate Middle Shusha 1989ode of birth, being in a forest area on the territory of the Subbotinsky district forestry, he deliberately damaged a total of 166 cedars by setting fire. Material damage caused to the forest fund of the Russian Federation currently amounts to more than two million rubles,” the police clarified.

According to the detainee, he was bored at home and went for a walk in the forest, where he decided to set fire to coniferous trees.

A criminal case has been initiated against the man under Part 4 of Art. 261 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Destruction or damage to forest plantations.” He faces up to 10 years in prison. The suspect was detained in accordance with Art. 91 Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation.
