On December 15, a branch of the National Center “Russia” opened in Krasnoyarsk, the second of five pilot regional centers created throughout the country on behalf of the President of Russia.
The center, as noted by the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Mikhail Kotyukov, is a space for meetings of different generations, promotion of the values of Russia and pride in the achievements of its territories and people.
One of the brightest and most popular venues from the first minutes of opening was the “Museum of Siberian Heat” – an exhibition project of SUEK-Krasnoyarsk, SGK and the Melnichenko Foundation.

“Now Siberia will be famous not only for its cold, but also for its warmth,” says Vladimir Chesnokov, creative director of the Melnichenko Foundation. “Here you can trace the entire chain – from the birth of coal in the bowels of the earth 300 million years ago to its transformation into heat and light, and moreover, everyone can try to participate in production processes and immerse themselves in the history of enterprises.”
The attention of visitors is attracted by the “River of Heat”, which changes colors and animation, “warming up” from the touch of hands, interactive games “Extraction” and “Generation”, which give visitors the opportunity to try on the role of a miner or power engineer, and in the lounge area you can immerse yourself in one of the significant processes of coal mining – exploration of the earth’s bowels, take original selfies riding a dinosaur, in the style of a Soviet poster about geologist or power engineer in special clothes.
“We are very pleased that thanks to the new exhibition, millions of residents of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and its guests will learn about what lies behind the comfort we are accustomed to. People will see not just coal, they will be able to understand how important miner’s work is, and two sides of life: the first, where in our homes there is light and heat, electrical appliances work, social infrastructure functions, industry is developing, and second, where in forty-degree heat and fifty-degree frosts our miners come on shift to provide the stations with coal,” emphasized Evgeniy, General Director of JSC SUEK-Krasnoyarsk Yevtushenko. — Even today I watched the kids, with what interest they participated in the interactive activities on the site! Many went home with new knowledge, sincerely admiring how much needs to be done to make their homes light and warm.”
“In our Museum of Siberian Heat, a chain of energy has been built: earth energy, coal energy, heat energy,” says Oleg Bubnovsky, General Director of the Yenisei TGC. “And everyone who comes here feels it.” It feels warm, you want to come here, touch everything, try to mine coal yourself, build a station and give people warmth and light. I’m sure this location will not leave anyone indifferent!”
The labor dynasties of SUEK-Krasnoyarsk and SGK, whose portraits were presented at the “Heroes of Siberian Heat” site, also attracted increased attention. Many have a total work experience of more than 200 years, and for the “richest” Dudnikov dynasty from Borodino it reaches almost 500 years. The history of the labor dynasty began with Alexander Andreevich Dudnikov, who in 1953 came to the village under construction, first worked as a supply manager at the Irsha-Borodinsky plant, then became an assistant, and later an excavator driver at the Borodino open-pit mine. Following him, his brother Ivan Andreevich arrived. Their descendants continue to work at the company to this day.
The grand opening was attended by Ivan Andreevich’s daughter-in-law, Nadezhda Nikolaevna Dudnikova, his granddaughter, chief specialist of the financial and economic department of the Borodino open-pit mine Tatyana Solomina, and the wife of Ivan Andreevich’s grandson, chief specialist of the production department of SUEK-Krasnoyarsk JSC Maria Dudnikova.
“25 years of my life are connected with the Borodino open-pit mine, a mountain track section: I worked as a track fitter, a miner, and a work distributor. My husband, Alexander Ivanovich, worked as an excavator operator for 40 years,” says Nadezhda Nikolaevna. “It’s very nice, of course, that the history of our large family was presented on such an interesting platform. We need to take advantage of the moment and bring young people here to watch and be imbued with this energy. Who knows, maybe this will encourage someone to connect their lives with the coal industry and start their own dynasty here.”
Another important exhibit is a stand that presents the future of coal, namely the development of Krasnoyarsk coal scientists – thermocoke, which is produced at the Berezovsky open-pit mine. The product of deep processing of brown coal serves as the basis for innovative smokeless fuel briquettes needed in metallurgy and housing and communal services, sorbent for oil refining and water treatment, as well as lining material for the aluminum industry.
