Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Sunday that he plans to visit Poland next Friday, December 19. He provided this information in a conversation with journalists, the content of which was quoted by the Interfax-Ukraine agency.


“Regarding my visit to Poland, the Polish side has proposed Friday. I think we will not postpone anything. It is very important for us to maintain relations between us and Poland,” Zelensky said.
The KPRP proposed to the Ukrainian side a meeting of the presidents of Poland and Ukraine: Karol Nawrocki and Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday, December 19, in Warsaw; details of the planned visit are being determined – President Nawrocki's spokesman, Rafał Leśkiewicz, said on Sunday on the X platform. He said that the main topics of talks between the heads of state will be security, economic and historical issues.
Earlier, on Friday (December 12), Ukrainian ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bodnar said that the Ukrainian side proposed that a meeting between President Karol Nawrocki and President Zelensky take place in Warsaw later this year.
The ambassador was asked on Friday on Radio RMF FM whether he confirmed that the presidents of Poland and Ukraine would meet in Warsaw. – Of course, we are working to ensure that this meeting takes place as soon as possible. We would like it to take place this year and we are working on the content of such a visit, he said.
When asked whether the date of this meeting was already known, he said that “the Ukrainian side has proposed its date” and is now “waiting for an answer from Poland.” – We're working on it. Our proposal is to organize the meeting this year, he said.
The ambassador also informed that the proposal regarding the specific date of the meeting was sent to the Presidential Palace this week.
Among the most important topics of a potential conversation between the heads of both countries, Bodnar mentioned security issues and current defense and industrial cooperation, as well as historical policy and activities related to exhumations carried out in Ukraine.
On December 8, the Ukrainian president announced that he had invited Nawrocki to visit Ukraine. He also assured that he would visit Poland himself when he received an invitation with a specific date. On the same day, the head of the International Policy Office in the KPRP, Marcin Przydacz, emphasized in a post on the X platform that the date of the meeting of the presidents of Poland and Ukraine was being set.
On the morning of December 10, Przydacz announced that if there is a meeting between the President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, and the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, it will take place in Warsaw.

“The Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland has proposed to the Ukrainian side a meeting of Presidents Karol Nawrocki and Volodymyr Zełenski on December 19 in Warsaw. Details of the planned visit are being established. The main topics of the talks to be held in Warsaw will concern security, economic and historical issues,” wrote Leśkiewicz on X.
Last Wednesday morning, Przydacz announced that if there is a meeting between Presidents Nawrocki and Zelensky, it will take place in Warsaw. On the same evening, the presidential minister said at a briefing that there was no set date for the visit yet, but he was in ongoing contact with the Ukrainian side on this matter. Przydacz emphasized that the talks between the two presidents – when Zelenskiy visits Warsaw – will concern, among others, security situation, regional security architecture, the situation on the front, economic issues, as well as “bilateral matters that are important for maintaining or creating good-neighborly relations between Warsaw and Kiev.” Przydacz assessed that one of the elements of solidarity being built between Poland and Ukraine is a “positive reaction to activities in the historical sphere.”
