“Duplicating provisions contained in higher-level legal acts, introducing unauthorized grading rules (e.g. one for missing a notebook) or using the average grade as the basis for issuing mid-year or annual grades – these are the most common erroneous or excessively extensive regulations found in school statutes,” the newspaper noted.

She added that documents often include, for example: incorrect records regarding students' appearance, including hairstyle or styling.

This problem is addressed, among others, by: attention of the Statutes of the Dead Society (SUS). In turn, Marek Pleśniar, head of the Polish Association of Educational Management Staff (OSKKO), quoted by the daily, draws attention to the “constant changeability of regulations, which requires constant introduction of further amendments and updates of documents.”

“DGP” emphasizes that the issue of excessive or incorrect regulations contained in school statutes is also noticed by the Ministry of Education. The response to this is to be a draft act on students' rights and obligations, as well as the appointment of an ombudsman for students' rights. (PAP)
