The President of Ukraine announced on Sunday that he plans to visit Poland next Friday, December 19.

Kosiniak-Kamysz, asked during a press briefing during his visit to Turkey whether the visit planned for Friday would be an opportunity to “pat down” the issue of transferring the remaining Polish MiGs to Ukraine and the capabilities that Poland would obtain in return, replied: – I am very interested in this.

The Minister of Defense announced this week that the Polish side “will try to transfer” the planes to Ukraine. As he pointed out, at the same time, in return, Poland would like to benefit from Ukrainian experience in the field of drones and anti-drone systems, including “the possibility of transferring these technologies to Poland.”

Yes, we want to donate equipment, but we also expect to share these skills. This would be a very good signal, I think also good for society – said the Deputy Prime Minister.

He recalled that in the past there were many donations to Ukraine from Poland, including those related to air operations, which – as he emphasized – was a good decision.

As he said, Ukrainians “should approach the proposal of such an exchange with openness.” He noted that such preliminary declarations from the Ukrainian side have already appeared.

– Some element of this is already happening today, i.e. training in drone skills, where Polish soldiers acquire these skills. I believe that this is very necessary to show that solidarity is a two-way field and principle, said Kosiniak-Kamysz.

He noted that “if Ukraine has something good to share, it should show it.” – This will change the mood for Ukraine's aid in Poland. I believe this is absolutely necessary, he emphasized.

The transfer of the remaining planes in the Polish Air Force is another donation of Polish MiG-29s to Ukraine; Poland has already transferred half of the fleet of these aircraft – 14 machines – in 2023. Then the MiGs were withdrawn from the base in Mińsk Mazowiecki – in their place were FA-50s purchased from South Korea; They still serve today at the base in Malbork, Pomerania, where, among others, they take off. for the mission to intercept unidentified Russian aircraft appearing over the Baltic Sea. Aircraft from allied countries are also stationed at the same base on a rotational basis as part of the NATO Air Policing mission. (PAP)
