The 50-year-old woman filmed and photographed the event, and later decided to post the materials on Facebook, a fact that led even her daughter to report her to the Police.
“According to Danish law, it is a crime to take and distribute intimate images of a person without permission, even if the person photographed is a family member”according to the publication fyens.dk.
Court documents show that, in November, the Court of Odense found the grandmother guilty, in a case qualified by the authorities as “unusual”.
In 2024, the woman posted four photos taken in the delivery room, showing her daughter's abdomen in labor and the baby immediately after birth, accompanied by the short message: “My first grandchild.”
The daughter, disturbed that the images were published without her consent, filed a criminal complaint and requested that the posts be deleted.
Although the photos were removed, the grandmother reposted them a few days before the court date, which weighed against her.
Sentenced to 14 days in prison with suspension, the grandmother did not appear at the trial, but the court decided that the repeated publication of the images constituted an aggravating element.
The judge pointed out that “the reposting of the photos, after the summons in court, weighs significantly against the defendant”.
She was forced to delete the images and pay her daughter moral damages in the amount of 10,000 Danish kroner (about 1,300 euros), although the young woman had asked for double.
