The section of judges of the Superior Council of Magistracy, which qualified as “allegations” the testimonies of some magistrates in the Recorder documentary “Captured Justice”, came with a short announcement on Friday.
“In relation to the issues reported publicly in the mass media, the Section for Judges of the Superior Council of the Magistracy decided to refer the Judicial Inspection to carry out checks in relation to the press material broadcast by the Recorder”, the judges of the CSM sent, without further details.
The announcement comes after Thursday evening almost 200 judges and prosecutors, a small part of them retired, showed solidarity with their colleagues who appeared in the Recorder documentary and spoke about the state of justice in Romania. They also showed solidarity with their colleague Raluca Moroșanu, who spoke publicly, in front of the management of the Bucharest Court of Appeal, about the irregularities in the system.

Two camps in the SCM: judges criticize the Recorder documentary, while prosecutors have a completely different position
The section for judges of the Superior Council of the Magistracy accused on Thursday, in a press release, a campaign that aims to “destroy trust in the justice system and trust in people in leadership positions”. That was the first reaction of the CSM, which qualifies as “allegations” the testimonies of some magistrates from the Recorder documentary “Captured Justice”.
In the first reaction after the Recorder documentary, the section for judges of the CSM accuses an “intensification of the campaign to destabilize the judicial power” and “a well-established plan” / “Appeal to society”
On the same day, the section for prosecutors of the SCM had a totally opposite position. They conveyed that “the connection between possible system problems, which must be checked immediately”, and the changes made to service pensions “is only a conjunctural one and can only lead to the manipulation of public opinion and to the derailment of the purpose of the Recorder material”.
“The successive amendments to the laws of justice in the period 2017-2022 disrupted the activity of the prosecutor's offices, both in the area of criminal investigation and representation before the courts, as well as in the areas of management and administration”, according to them.
