The students and teachers of the “Octavian Goga” National College in Sibiu were evacuated on Thursday, after the gas alarm was triggered. Also, the activity of the permit and registration services and the passport service within the Sibiu Prefecture was interrupted, and the people from this building were also evacuated. Following the measurements, it was determined that there are leaks in the gas pipes at the school unit, so the gas will remain closed until repairs are made. At the Prefecture, values ​​above normal were indicated at a channel, but after airing the situation was corrected. Traffic was restricted on several streets in the area, the restrictions being lifted during the afternoon.

“ISU Sibiu intervenes urgently at an educational unit on Mitropoliiei street in the city of Sibiu because the gas alarm went off. A special fire truck and a SMURD crew are mobilized to the scene”, initially transmitted ISU Sibiu, quoted by News.ro, specifying that the students and teachers are evacuated.

For its part, the Sibiu Prefecture announced that the activity of the permit and registration services and the passport service are temporarily suspended, as a result of the intervention of specialized forces following the notification via the emergency number 112 of a pungent smell in the basement of the building.

And IPJ Sibiu announced that road traffic was restricted on Andrei Şaguna – Mitropoliei – Ioan Lupaş streets in the municipality of Sibiu, to ensure the intervention of special vehicles operating within an educational unit, where the gas alarm went off.

ISU Sibiu then announced that a CBRN vehicle was also mobilized to carry out specialized measurements. Crews of the water and sewage, gas and electricity operators have also arrived.

“Considering the existing situation, both within the Prefect's Institution of Sibiu county and within the educational unit, all persons were evacuated as a precaution to carry out the intervention and to clarify the factual situation. All students and all teaching staff (more than 1,000 people) were evacuated from the educational unit,” ISU reported.

According to the cited source, some gas leaks were identified at the educational unit in the gas supply pipes. For safety, the gas remains closed until the repair work is carried out, so that there are no more gas leaks.

Also, following the measurements made by CBRN specialists from ISU Sibiu and the measurements made by the gas operator to identify the sources that generated these events, it was found that, at the Prefecture's headquarters, values ​​slightly above the normal limit were identified near a sewer, but after venting, no more values ​​indicating the presence of gas were identified.

“For safety, tomorrow (Friday – no) morning before the start of the work schedule, new measurements will be carried out”, specified ISU Sibiu.

The Sibiu firefighters then announced that they had completed the intervention at the educational unit and at the headquarters of the Prefect's Institution.
