How much a doctor and a nurse from UPU Bacău were receiving bribes for false medical leaves
A doctor and a nurse from the Emergency Reception Unit (UPU) of the Bacău County Emergency Hospital, investigated for bribery and intellectual forgery, were placed under judicial control for 60 days, the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bacău Court announced on Thursday.

According to the investigators, between February and November 2025, the doctor would have repeatedly received bribes ranging from 50 lei to 400 lei from several people. In exchange for the money, he drew up several medical leave certificates, falsely attesting that the patients suffer from medical conditions even though he did not have any prior medical consultation, writes Agerpres.
At the same time, in the period 2021-2025, the nurse would have repeatedly bribed a specialist doctor from the Bacău County Emergency Hospital, at least 100 lei each, inciting him to draw up more medical leave certificates. And in this case, it was falsely certified that the patients suffer from medical conditions, although the doctor did not perform any consultation beforehand.
“Subsequently, the beneficiaries used the falsely prepared documents by submitting them to their employers (the beneficiaries being mainly employees of SJU Bacău and SAJ Bacău, but also other public institutions or private companies), with the consequence that, although they did not show up for work, they received an allowance of 100% of their salary illegally”, stated the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bacău Court.
According to the cited source, the specialist doctor is subject to judicial review for similar crimes and is prohibited from exercising his profession within the SJU Bacău, starting from June 2025.
On Tuesday, the prosecutors carried out home searches and at UPU Bacău, following which sums of money, mobile phones, documents and other assets that constitute evidence were discovered and seized.
Eight arrest warrants were issued in this case, the suspects being heard by the prosecutor.
The doctor and the nurse from UPU Bacău were detained for 24 hours, after which they were placed under judicial control for 60 days. At the same time, the doctor is prohibited from exercising his profession at UPU Bacău and signed a bond for the amount of 50,000 lei.
The prosecutors stated that in this file, investigations are also being carried out regarding other facts and persons.
