Following a recent attack, two prominent grain terminals in Novorossiysk, a crucial port for Russian wheat exports, have suspended operations. Russia ranks among the world’s largest wheat exporters, relying heavily on Black Sea ports for shipments.
According to a source from Reuters, the Demetra Holding grain terminal has halted its activities due to the incident, and the company is currently assessing the damages. This terminal has an annual capacity of 8.5 million tons.
Another terminal, NCHP, also located in Novorossiysk with an export capacity of 7.1 million tons per year, sustained damage and has ceased operations, as reported by three industry sources.
Monitoring channel Exilenova+ documented the aftermath of the attack with videos and images showing extensive fires. Reports also indicated the collapse of one of the overpasses in the area.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the strike on Novorossiysk, describing it as a “unique operation” targeting a naval base that he identified as the last major stronghold of the Russian fleet in the Black Sea. He noted that the attack occurred over 300 kilometers from the frontline.
“Our reactive drones ‘Palyanitsa,’ Neptune missiles, and maritime unmanned systems accurately struck designated targets. Hits on air defense positions, docks, and port infrastructure have been confirmed,” Zelensky stated.

- The governor of Russia’s Krasnodar region reported that on the night of August 12, the area was attacked by “hundreds of drones.” According to him, Novorossiysk, Anapa, Gelendzhik, and the Temryuk district were among the locations struck. Monitoring channels have described the assault on Novorossiysk as one of the most extensive the city has faced in recent times.
