According to the official count, Ciprian Ciucu obtained over 209,000 votes (36%), about 80,000 votes away from Anca Alexandrescu, the candidate supported by AUR, who came in second place. Alexandrescu beat the PSD candidate, Daniel Băluță, who took third place, by 8,000 votes.

I'm easily surprised, there are surveys I've done over time. The PNL, indeed, was wrong in the past with the polls, but since Mr. Ilie Bolojan came to the leadership of the party, we have never lied and we will not lie with the polls. The big difference in votes between me and the 2nd place surprises me, I'm not surprised by the ranking, i.e. the order”, said Ciprian Ciucu, live on Digi24.

The promise of a new beginning for PNL

Ciucu stated that it was based “on real sociological research” which indicated that he will win the Capital City Hall, while Daniel Băluță will rank third. “I'm making a commitment from now on, I'm not going to lie with polls. In the worst case, if you don't like surveys, don't publish them, but it's not ok, that people have lost their trust. There are other ways to avoid defeat than running fake polls. I want a fresh start for my party as well, in terms of polite behaviorc”, added Ciucu.
