Former president Traian Băsescu voted, on Sunday, in the elections for the Capital City Hall. He spoke about the context in which Romania finds itself, saying that “we are in an extremely toxic public debate that divides Romanians at times when they should be united”.
“I am worried. No matter what the outcome of the elections will be, the excessive debt remains, the measures that must be taken next are harsh and unpopular for the population. Not to mention that we also have a formidable propaganda. We do not publicly hold accountable those who incurred the debt, but those who are trying to solve it”, said Băsescu, after voting in the elections for Bucharest.
He also said that “we are in an extremely toxic public debate that divides Romanians at times when they should be united”.
“Politicians have reached the stage where they no longer put the interests of the Romanians first, but of the parties,” Băsescu added.
