Student journalists from the Institute of Philology and Linguistic Communication of the Siberian Federal University developed a project about a painting by the famous Siberian artist Vasily Surikov.
“The Capture of a Snowy Town” is one of Surikov’s most famous paintings. He worked on it in Krasnoyarsk in 1889–1890and the canvas was completely ready in 1891 in Moscow. In the painting you can see images of many of the artist’s relatives and friends. The painting was first presented in St. Petersburg at the exhibition of the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions in 1891.
With the help of the staff of the artist’s estate museum, the authors of the project collected information about the appearance of the game “Town” depicted in the painting and told the story of the creation of the painting using interesting interactive formats. Readers will even be able to build a snowy town themselves in one of the games created by the team.
The project also contains winter activities in which Krasnoyarsk residents can participate. Everyone has the opportunity to invest a piece of their winter fun into the project – for this you can share personal photographs.
You can find out more on the website of the “Painting with a Good Story” project.
