Rodica Stănoiu, former Minister of Justice, died on Wednesday, December 3, announced the website Juridice.ro. The information was confirmed to HotNews by two former leaders of the Social Democratic Party.

She was 86 years old.

Rodica Stănoiu led the portfolio of Justice in the period 2000-2004, within the government led by Adrian Năstase.

Who was Rodica Stănoiu

Rodica Stănoiu graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest in 1961. In 1969 and 1982, she attended postgraduate studies at the School of Criminology of the University of Montreal, respectively at the International Faculty of Comparative Law in Strasbourg. In 1975, he obtained the title of Doctor of Law at the “Andrei Rădulescu” Legal Research Institute of the Romanian Academy, and in 1994, he followed a research internship at the Federal Justice Center in Washington DC, according to muzeulexiluluiromanesc.ro.

From 1995 to 2005, she worked as a university professor at Spiru Haret University, and from 1996 she was a professor at Dimitrie Cantemir University.

Starting with 1996, Rodica Stănoiu held the position of senator in the Romanian Parliament for three terms.

For four years, between 2000 and 2004, he was Minister of Justice in the then Social Democrat cabinet.

In 2014, the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ) established, in a definitive decision, that Rodica Stănoiu collaborated with the Securitate during the communist regime.
