The reaction of the advertising industry in Romania after the program “Case at 35,000 euros” of Simion: “Marketing is not a lie”

After George Simion said that the promises in the 2024 campaign regarding the offer of houses at 35,000 euros if the president is coming were “our form of marketing”, a reaction came from the professionals in the field of communication and advertising.

“We reject any attempt to discredit a whole professional field that plays an essential role in the modern economy. Marketing is not about manipulation or misinformation, but about understanding the real needs of people and the relevant, ethical and creative response to them. Our industry is a regulated one, guided by ethical principles, supported by creativity and social responsibility. Thousands of professionals who work honestly in Romania and contribute actively to the economic, entrepreneurial and educational development of the society ”, the statement said.

They also launch a call to presidential candidates to show respect for the marketing industry:

“Also, to induce the idea that” marketing means lie “is not only false, but also dangerous. Such a statement only feeds a culture of mistrust in Romanian society. We ask the candidates for presidential elections to respect for the marketing and communication industry and, at the same time, we will not accept this industry.”

Simion, about the houses at 35,000 euros: it was “a form of marketing”

George Simion, the gold candidate for the Presidency of Romania, said on Tuesday evening, in an interview at Digi24, that the program on house construction for 35,000 euros was “a form of marketing, promotion”.

“There are people who did not understand what it is and I know that I did not make a proposal that they give them a home. It was about accessible housing, about social housing, part of a governance program. And it was our form of marketing, promotion, of mediaing the action.

President Aur stressed that this campaign played a role in Sunday's success in the presidential elections.

“If we did not have these promotion forms in these years to break the information block, we were no longer where we are today, at 42% votes,” said George Simion.
