“The collective Exploatare Sistem Zonal Prahova made special efforts to deliver water to the population as quickly as possible.
Thus, this morning, we are technically, physically and chemically prepared to deliver water to economic agents.
From this moment, we wait for 72 hours for the results of the microbiological analyses, to make sure that the water complies with the standards set out in OG 7/2023.
We remain committed to being present and managing drinking water treatment responsibly,” sends ESZ Prahova in a press release.
We remind you that the drinking water supply was temporarily suspended in Prahova starting on October 28, 2025, at 3:30 p.m., as a result, restrictions, flow reductions or complete shutdowns were imposed in industries and companies that used water from this source, depending on availability.
If for the population, after 28.11.2025, it was decided to ensure an alternative distribution of water (mobile tanks, temporary distribution points) until the normalization of the water parameters, for the industry (including the energy systems), the water was stopped and will continue to operate until the internal stocks of each commercial company are completed.
On Thursday, December 4, the Ministry of the Environment made clarifications regarding the situation at the Paltinu dam. The institution warns that the information according to which “the ministry would have known the risk of stopping the water supply and would have ignored warnings, they are false.”
A minute from October 22, drawn up after a visit to the Paltinu dam, appeared in the press, which mentioned “the risk of increased turbidity”. However, the Ministry of the Environment states that ESZ Prahova, the only institution that treats water for consumption, did not inform either the participants or the ministry that this increase could prevent water treatment and interrupt the drinking water supply.
The Ministry emphasizes that the operator did not signal the risks, did not present the technological limits of the station, did not inform about the high turbidity and did not activate preventive measures. The claim that MMAP “knew” about the possibility of stopping the water is false: the October 22 document does not contain any warning or note signed by ESZ Prahova regarding the impossibility of water treatment.
