The room where onions are stored should not be exposed to sunlight, and the air temperature should be from 0 to +13°C – at higher temperatures, the crop begins to quickly deteriorate. In addition, it is important to ensure that the humidity is not higher than 70%, otherwise there is a risk of mold.
It is best to store onions in a dry basement. Experienced gardeners recommend sprinkling the onions with chalk before storing – for 25 kg of harvest you will need only 50 g of chalk.
How to process onions
Grind up the chalk and sprinkle it on the onions. Thanks to this, the harvest will be preserved until spring without damage, and the fruits will remain juicy and tasty.
