I cook potatoes in 8 minutes – no cooking in a pan: soft, crumbly, ready for mashed potatoes, casserole or side dish

Potatoes are a universal and favorite vegetable that goes in mashed potatoes, in casseroles, and as a side dish for meat. But cooking it is a whole ordeal: a dirty pan, boiling water, waiting 20–30 minutes, and then also peeling the hot tubers.

In fact, everything is much simpler. Potatoes can be cooked in just 8 minutes in the microwave. It turns out soft inside, slightly crumbly and completely ready for use, just like after a long cooking, but without steam, without pans and without waiting.

Here's how to do it:

  • Wash the potatoes well.
  • Cut into 3-4 cm pieces.
  • Place in a deep microwave-safe bowl.
  • Add 2-3 tablespoons of water.
  • Cover with a lid or cling film with a steam hole.
  • Microwave on high for 8 minutes.
  • If the pieces are large, add another 1-2 minutes.

Ready potatoes can be easily pierced with a fork, will not boil over and will retain their structure.
