A Polish drug dealer tried to return to the UK

The woman was previously sentenced to 33 months in prison for possession of cocaine with intent to sell. After being released early in June, she was deported from the UK. However, just a few months later, on November 2, she was stopped at Holyhead ferry port in Anglesey as she tried to re-enter the country using a different name.

During a hearing at Caernarfon Crown Court on Friday, the 32-year-old pleaded guilty to charges of traveling with another person's passport and breaching a deportation order made in late June.

An unusual reason for returning

Defense lawyer Elen Owen told the court that the reason for the woman's return to the UK was a “desperate attempt to save the marriage”. According to Owen, the woman's husband of three years lived and worked in London as a forklift operator. The lawyer quoted by the media explained that her client repeatedly asked her husband to return to Poland, but her requests were to no avail.

Prosecutors said that although the woman's new passport was issued legally, immigration officers quickly linked her details to her previous maiden name and established her criminal history. Prosecutor Dylan Wagg said the woman had already tried to enter the UK twice but was refused entry each time.

Another penalty and possible deportation

While announcing the sentence, Judge Nicola Jones emphasized that the defendant had tried several times to break the ban on returning to the UK. She also indicated that the woman had previously been convicted of drug offenses. The court sentenced her to an additional six months in prison, while noting that she was highly likely to be deported again after serving her sentence.
